TrailStar Ibex

Our most rugged adventure sandal, the TrailStar Ibex combine our ultra-secure TrailStar laces with the ultra-strong Ibex soles. Easily adjust these over the foot laces to keep a secure fit and the Ibex sole provides excellent traction on all surfaces. Whether its mountain peaks or muddy trails, you can be sure footed with every step in your TrailStar Ibex! 

Sole

What makes the Ibex soles so special is the Vibram® Zegama (6mm) Morflex (6mm) composition. Choose between our proprietary UltraGrip or Black Aniline Cowhide Leather footbed for a 13mm total stack height. Vibram® Zegama is an individually-molded rubber sole that uses Vibram’s MegaGrip soling compound. Known for its high-durability and good grip in wet conditions, the Vibram® Zegama sole employs an aggressive and open tread pattern. The deep 4mm lugs are perfect for gaining maximum traction on loose dirt, rocks, and mud. We couple the Vibram® Zegama with Vibram® Morflex to give these sandals a firm yet comfortable ride. Though on the thicker side, you will be surprised how flexible the Ibex are, matching the movements of your feet with ease. The Ibex soles have everything you need for adventure! 

TrailStar Lacing System

Increased security from over-the-foot style lacing is the hallmark of TrailStars. The TrailStar Lacing system features a specially made forefoot strap made from Toray® Ultrasuede and a nylon mesh. The result is an extremely comfortable material with the strength properties of webbing. The forefoot strap is completely adjustable and anchored through the bottom of the sole. Final adjustments are made through a tension lock on the outer heel post. All forefoot straps are cut-to-fit after adjustment. The heel section of the lacing system employs two heel posts covered in Ultrasuede for comfort. Heel strap adjustments are locked into place using Velcro®. The result is an extremely comfortable and secure lacing system that is ready for adventure!

Recraftable

Just because you wore a hole in your sandals, it doesn’t mean you have to throw them away! Our modular approach to sandal-making means that worn out parts can be replaced with a pair of pliers at home. Why throw away what you can repair? Visit our Parts Page to learn more!

My new favorite!

I am not usually a sandals person, but now that I live in the chaparral desert way south, I needed cooler footwear for boots. I took the recommendation from Shammas as to size and which model, and they were absolutely right. We have a lot of sand, gravel and spiky things here, and these really protect the bottom of my feet. And so so so comfortable! I had stopped wearing sandals as I hated the feel of stuff between my toes, but these are so very soft they just feel nice. I now wear these into town as well, as they protect me from the pavement too. I love the fact that they are made locally (relatively) and that the soles are replaceable when worn. I just wish they weren’t black. That’s the worst color for the extreme heat we are having now.

Unbelievably comfortable

These are so comfortable and I can hike the steep trails with confidence. I am very happy with the soft leather on top, almost feels like I’m not wearing a shoe at all! And I’m so happy to support a CA local company!

Very impressed!

I work as a dog walker so I’m putting miles into these sandals every day, everything from rooted, rocky trails to asphalt. These sandals are stable and secure on my feet and grip well rain and mud or dry dusty hard-pack. I’ve gotten the straps wet with no abrasion or cuts and the sandals remaining comfortable. On asphalt the lugs provide some cushioning.

Secure fit.

These fit perfectly and adjustment wasn't difficult. They are flexible but tough, well made and VERY secure. Love the wide toe box.

super comfortable

I have two pairs of TrailStars, one with the lighter 9mm sole and this one with the 13mm. I've worn both on short hikes -- good grip, nicely flexible, stay on my feet well. I appreciate the 13mm for walking around town and running errands while the 9mm is the pair I wear in the garden. They stay secure on my feet, no tripping, no rubbing. I love the toe loop and I appreciate the minimalist design.
