TrailStar Maximus: Tan Sahara
The TrailStar Maximus: Tan Sahara takes everything you love about TrailStars and adds a new tan colorway! The tan sole and straps combine to make a stylish sandal that looks as good on the beach as they do on a night out! With the TrailStar Maximus: Tan Sahara, you can step confidently with style!
Sole
The Maximus sole uses an 8mm Vibram® Newflex sole coupled with a tan leather footbed for a 9mm total stack height. Vibram® Newflex is made from a blend of rubber and EVA to form a durable soling material with aggressive tread. At 3mm thicker than the Warrior sole, you will get a much more rugged sandal that is capable of diffusing the feeling of rocks, sticks, and the like from underfoot. The Maximus sole is suitable for a host of situations from the trail to the gym.
TrailStar Lacing System
Increased security from over-the-foot style lacing is the hallmark of TrailStars. The TrailStar Lacing system features a specially made forefoot strap made from Toray® Ultrasuede and a nylon mesh. The result is an extremely comfortable material with the strength properties of webbing. The forefoot strap is completely adjustable and anchored through the bottom of the sole. Final adjustments are made through a tension lock on the outer heel post. All forefoot straps are cut-to-fit after adjustment. The heel section of the lacing system employs two heel posts covered in Ultrasuede for comfort. Heel strap adjustments are locked into place using Velcro®. The result is an extremely comfortable and secure lacing system that is ready for adventure!
Recraftable
Just because you wore a hole in your sandals, it doesn’t mean you have to throw them away! Our modular approach to sandal-making means that worn out parts can be replaced with a pair of pliers at home. Why throw away what you can repair? Visit our Parts Page to learn more!

In 2017 I purchased my first Shamma Super Browns and I LOVED them! Wore them for almost 5-6 years like gloves. I took a break from Shamma and was excited with the cute TrailStar in tan.
My first challenge was that I did not even remember ordering them because I did not get a confirmation email. Then, two weeks later I get an email with shipping info which was surprising to me because I just thought I hadn’t ordered them (or somehow my cart checked out mysteriously?)
I received the sandals in good condition and decided that I’d wear them anyways.
- I don’t like the bulkier Velcro in the back (not as minimalist as I’d like and it rubs my ankles a bit too much)
- I wish the entire sandal could be adjusted like the others pair.
- lastly, I wish the plastic hardware was in a more neutral color instead of the black to give the shoe a more refined look.
Overall the sandal is as advertised, and it’s fine. I suppose my perfect pair would be the super browns in tan leather :)
Hi Kim! Thank you so much for the very helpful feedback. I wanted to let you know that you can adjust the Trailstar all the way from the toe to the ankle by pulling the sole anchors out of the bottom of the sole and adjusting the straps. Hopefully you can get a great fit. :)
Oh my goodness, I was surprised (shouldn't have been) at how much I loved these the moment I put them on! The comfort is off the charts! The straps are so refreshingly soft, but sturdy, and the footbed is a DREAM. I like them way more than I anticipated! They are such a great neutral color and are "cute" enough for dresses and skirts. I think the only thing I would change is to use a tan velcro and matching plastic pieces. The black does stand out, but it's ok. And lastly, I realized I don't have to unstrap the back velcro piece every time I put them on. I have them set to where I want them and carefully pull them on. And knowing that if they stretch a little, it's perfectly fine, because I can adjust the straps accordingly. Big smiles for these!
I already own one pair of trailstar and wanted a pair to look nice for weddings! Love them!
I had to size down and replacement went without a hitch (I did purchase the return/exchange coverage). I really appreciate that I can fully adjust the straps. My feet are quite narrow and I was able to dial in fit perfectly. The tan color looks great. The leather on top of the soles feels really comfortable, the straps synthetic material feel soft yet robust. Time will tell how well these wear but initial impression is very positive. The only minor thing I’d change is to use color matching velcro instead of black.
Been waiting about 2 weeks for a return shipping label that I paid a coverage fee for. Have submitted two return requests and emailed customer service and have yet to receive a response. Pretty bad customer service overall.
