TrailStar Alpha

Take your adventures to the next level with the TrailStar Alphas. As over-the-foot style sandals, the TrailStar Alphas provide a secure fit that give you more control over every step. Weighing up to one pound less than traditional adventure sandals, you can focus completely on the trail instead of your feet. Explore new horizons with the TrailStar Alphas.

Sole

Alpha soles are composed of 5mm Vibram Newflex and 6mm Vibram® Morflex. This creates a sole that provides excellent protection for your feet while still being light and responsive. The aggressive tread of the Vibram® Newflex makes navigating rough terrain and trails a breeze while the Vibram® Morflex gives you a firm yet cushioned place to rest your feet. Alphas have a 12mm total stack height. Choose the UltraGrip footbed for use in the harshest elements. For more comfort in drier conditions select Cognac Leather.

TrailStar Lacing System

Increased security from over-the-foot style lacing is the hallmark of TrailStars. The TrailStar Lacing system features a specially made forefoot strap made from Toray® Ultrasuede and a nylon mesh. The result is an extremely comfortable material with the strength properties of webbing. The forefoot strap is completely adjustable and anchored through the bottom of the sole. Final adjustments are made through a tension lock on the outer heel post. All forefoot straps are cut to fit after adjustment. The heel section of the lacing system employs two heel posts covered in Ultrasuede for comfort. Heel strap adjustments are locked into place using Velcro®. The result is an extremely comfortable and secure lacing system that is ready for adventure!

Finally

The perfect sandals for me! I’ve been looking for an outdoorsy strappy sport sandal for over a year. No other brand has met this level of comfort and craftsmanship. I love they’re handmade and easy to take on and off!

Nice

Love the strap design. Very secure to the foot. I unfortunately bought A half size too long, even though I used the printouts to assess fit. It turns out I like a much snugger fit with my toes almost reaching to the end of the sandal. This combined with having short toes meant that I needed a half size smaller. I also think I need a custom toe post placement as my toes again are shorter than average. One major disadvantage is the black color. Please please please make the trail star in a lighter color such as a tan, khaki, light brown, or beige color. These lighter colors go much much better with summer wardrobes. Many people just don't like to wear black, especially in the hot summer time! I know I am not alone here. Leather straps would be a nice option with these as well. Last, please make your thickest sole 1 mm thicker! A 16 mm sole for those of us who need more cushion and or have foot injuries would be amazing. I am concerned that the 3 mm difference between the two thicknesses is not enough.

I was dubious at first…

I have the finickiest feet. Having a wide foot and wearing too tight, high shoes for most of my adult life has led to a lot of foot issues. I was in doubt whether the Trailstar Alphas were going to be the ones that will get me through the warmer weather. Lots of positive reviews in a number of Facebook groups helped me decide to take a chance on these sandals. I don’t usually tolerate a tong or anything between my toes but from the moment I tried these on I was hopeful. I have worn them nearly everyday since receiving them a week ago. I’ve had hourlong walks and my feet feel good. I made some adjustments to the straps after watching the Shamma video and that certainly helped. The sandals are well constructed and the design seems to be perfect for my feet. I’m a happy customer! Hope you plan to offer them in different strap colours.

Smells like toxic chemicals, didn't fit

I ordered 2 pair and when I opened the plastic bag, the off-gassing of toxic chemicals was so bad that it gave me a 5 day migraine. Evidently them make them with toxic glue to order, but don't air them out. Either way, they didn't fit, were extra wide, the leather was darker than pictured and I didn't like the look, fit, or feel of the straps. The toe straps really weren't in the right place but may work for an extra wide fit. I had to return them to look for something made with natural, non toxic materials

The best sandals I've ever owned!

The first couple of days I wore these sandals, they hurt pretty bad. Give it a little patience they will become the most comfortable sandals ever! My feet don't slide when they get sweaty and the toe ring keeps me very stable. I'm not much of a runner but I've had to run in these a couple times and it was a very decent experience. Better than running in tennis shoes. I highly reccomend these sandals!! :) 10/10 bonus they are cure to dress up and dress down.

Very Pleased!

After doing lots of research and reading reviews from Barefoot enthusiasts I decided to try Shammas. Two other brands didn't work for me.
They are comfortable and easy to adjust. Very happy with these sandals!

We bought the whole family matching Shamma sandals , they all fit well , especially the Numa they are my favourite ! Wearing them everyday ! My littlest fitting was just not spot on fitting was a little odd, the Y ankle strap was too stiff with a thicker plastic in between not sure why . The sole at the heel is too narrow and the top strap is not long enough (he is almost 5, narrow and low volume feet) . To get in and out of the sandals both fell strap and top strap has to be undone (lots of work for little hands) Shamma has kindly send some replacement strap to help with the fitting. 🤞🏼this will help !

Not for me but I appreciate this as an option

I really didn’t like adjusting these and after I did get it comfortable something must have happened when moving and it got really tight on my toe. I don’t want to be constantly adjusting my shoes and the style isn’t my favorite. I just liked these more than the standard sling toe plug style and I like that they have a wide foot bed for wider toe spays. I appreciate that they have a more flexible return policy so I can look for a sandal that better suits me.
