TrailStar Maximus

The TrailStar Maximus pushes performance with every step. Designed for intense activity that requires speed and precision, the TrailStar Maximus functions as well in the gym as it does outdoors. These lightweight and secure sandals break the boundaries of what you expect from minimalist footwear.

Sole

The Maximus use an 8mm Vibram® Newflex sole coupled with your choice of UltraGrip or Tobacco Brown Goatskin Leather footbed for a 9mm total stack height. Vibram® Newflex is made from a blend of rubber and EVA to form a durable soling material with aggressive tread. At 3mm thicker than the Warrior sole, you will get a much more rugged sandal that is capable of diffusing the feeling of rocks, sticks, and the like from underfoot. The Maximus sole is suitable for a host of situations from the trail to the gym. Pair with the UltraGrip footbed for use in the harshest elements, or select the Goatskin Leather for more comfort in drier conditions.

TrailStar Lacing System

Increased security from over-the-foot style lacing is the hallmark of TrailStars. The TrailStar Lacing system features a specially made forefoot strap made from Toray® Ultrasuede and a nylon mesh. The result is an extremely comfortable material with the strength properties of webbing. The forefoot strap is completely adjustable and anchored through the bottom of the sole. Final adjustments are made through a tension lock on the outer heel post. All forefoot straps are cut-to-fit after adjustment. The heel section of the lacing system employs two heel posts covered in Ultrasuede for comfort. Heel strap adjustments are locked into place using Velcro®. The result is an extremely comfortable and secure lacing system that is ready for adventure!

There is no other sandal on earth like the Trailstar. THE BEST

My only complaint is that the rest of my sandal collection is gathering dust because I just wear the Trailstars all the time. They are the best thing I've ever put on my feet. I've used them for long distance hikes, 30-40 miles/day in rugged terrain (Ibex), use them for my daily trail runs (alpha and maximus), use them to walk the dogs, whatever. And when the soles, anchors or lacing wears out, I buy the replacement parts and they're a cinch to maintain.

If I had one gripe, it's just that the lacing tends to stretch when wet, so in rainy/wet conditions I have to tighten the adjustments and that can be a hassle during a run. Small price to pay for everything else being perfect about them.

Also, sometimes I add foam insoles to them because I like a little extra cush on longer hikes/runs.

The footbed is sturdy, but with great flexibility. The straps are soft and easy to adjust at all points. The whole sandal is lightweight and so comfortable. I’m sad I slept on these for so long.

Amazing

I restarted my barefoot journey about 6 months ago. I’m on my feet all day for work and was wearing stiff heavy boots. I have bunions that run in my family and was getting bad cramps from weak foot muscles. These sandals have become my favorite thing to wear in my new barefoot arsenal. They literally feel like they’re glued to my feet and offer so much room to spread and splay my toes how they should be, even in conjunction with toe spacers. Love these sandals. Took 14k steps a day this weekend wearing them with no blisters and no foot pain.

Can’t take heavy trail use

These aren’t my first sandals and these have been the least sturdy pair so far. Chacos and Bedrocks have both survived well over a year of daily abuse including hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and whitewater rafting. These sandals however, can only last a few months in the same abuse.

The lacing system tore the sole and basically rendered the sandal useless after 3 months of daily use and trail running. They were kind enough to replace them but the same issue is already starting.

5 stars for security, comfort, and customer service - so if you don’t plan on abusing these “Trailstars” on the trail, then they’re perfect for casual use.

Exactly what I was looking for!

They’re versatile enough for every day and flexible enough for movement.
