These sandals are durable and share the same aggressive tread pattern as the Warriors with a slightly thicker sole. Elite Maximus are designed for those needing the protection of a more rugged sandal without sacrificing minimalist demands. Whether you are in the gym or out on the trail, the Elite Maximus are a great choice in all environments.

Elite Lacing System

The Elite Lacing System is the product of 10 years of relentless testing and development. This lacing system is designed with control, comfort, and performance in mind. Three independent adjustment zones - the heel strap, insole strap, and toe straps - give you total control over how the straps are adjusted to your feet. Velcro® fasteners make adjustment easy and secure. The Shamma Elite Buckle gives you the ability to fine tune your toe strap, where adjustment matters most. Our innovative and flexible heel posts keep the straps in an optimal position so you can focus on the road ahead. The Elite Lacing uses Toray® UltraSuede to create the highest levels of comfort available. If you want the highest performance laces, you want the Elite Lacing System!

Loosen Everything: First, loosen all 3 strap zones until there is excess slack in each section. The straps should be extremely loose in all three zones.
Center Your Foot: Start by centering your foot on the sandal. You should have equal room in front of your toes and behind your heel.
Set the Buckle: Adjust the buckle front-to-back to find a desirable location. The soft spot between your big and second toe is a good place to start.
The Anchor (Insole Strap): Tighten the insole strap first. This dictates the buckle's left-to-right position.
Tip: Keep the buckle parallel with the bone behind your big toe. If it digs in, loosen the strap and reposition the buckle farther to the outside.
Toe Strap: Once the buckle is set, tighten the toe strap until snug and comfortable, starting with the bottom layer, and moving the slack up through to the second and through the buckle.
Heel Strap: Tighten the heel strap to your desired comfort level and lock it in.

FAQ

How do I choose between a leather or ultragrip footbed?

Leather gets slippery when it is wet, so if you plan to adventure in wet conditions, go with the ultragrip. If you are looking for soft, dry comfort, go with the leather. Leather absorbs sweat, so don't worry about that too much!

Which soles should I pick?

Opt for the Alpha or Sport if you are transitioning to barefoot footwear slowly or want some extra protection and support. Pick the Maximus sole if you'd like a moderate, flexible, barefoot feeling. This is a great sole for experienced and new barefoot wearers alike if you are comfortable with that extra groundfeel. If you are an experienced wearer and want almost nothing between you and the ground, go with the Warrior. And wear the Ibex if you need a flexible sole with enhanced, protective grip.

Can I resole my Elite sandals?

Every single one of our Elite sandals can be resoled at home! And you can mix and match soles from our Parts page if you'd like to experiment with a new stack height.

Will the toe strap dig in between my toes?

Probably not! The special thing about Shammas is that the strap between your toes isn't doing all of the work to keep your feet in place. If you are sensitive in this area, we recommend giving the toe strap a couple days to soften up and in most cases, it will be so comfortable, you'll forget it exists!

Can I return these if they don't work for me?

Yes! We have a 30-Day trial period so that you can test out your sandals inside or outside and still return them in new or gently worn condition. As our sandals break-in, they soften up and begin to hug your feet for a custom fit, so feel free to take your time and ask us any questions along the way.

What is your warranty policy?

We will always repair or replace any sandal that is broken or defective due to a manufacturing defect. For normal wear and tear, you can purchase replacement parts on our Shamma Recrafted page so that the adventure never ends.

Can you tell me about your manufacturing process?

We are proud to be manufacturing each of our sandals in the USA, here at our workshop in Santa Cruz, California! We source our soling material from the United States and Italy, our leather from the USA and Germany, and our ultrasuede from Japan. We are constantly looking for opportunities to bring manufacturing closer to home and work with partners we trust.

I am very disappointed. I order these and another pair and the maximus elite came with just the soles and no straps. The other pair was a gift for my brother which he loves cause the sole is vibram which made me wonder why the more expensive pair isn't as good of a sole too. They're not vibram. Haven't heard from customer service about my issue and now have a useless pair of expensive soles.

I wanted to leave a review as soon as I unwrapped them and put the on the day they arrived. I was instantly impressed. I wore them around the house everyday after work and even rode my bike a little around the neighborhood.

The real test was gonna be a 4 day camp that was coming up. I wore them at camp, on my bike all over the place, down to the river to swim and walk the gravel bars, and on a long kayak trip. I cleaned them up when I got home and they look brand new.

Gripped everywhere, stayed tight and comfortable, and were super reliable. LOVE 'EM!!

I ordered my Elite Ibex in Tobacco Brown Leather in sz14 & i have to say it's am in LOVE ❤️ with them right now . I ordered my Elite Ibex on September 3-26 & got them on September 8-26 & I really like how fast I got them too . They're so comfortable to wear around all day every day for long periods of time . I wanted to wear them first & then give my review of my Elite Ibex Shamma sandals . I have 4th pair of Shamma sandals now the 1st pair is the Cruzers , 2nd is the Numas in black leather , 3rd is the Pacific Avenue in black leather , 4th pair is the Elite Ibex in Brown Leather & i love ❤️ all of them . I am not a shoes 👟 , socks 🧦, boots 🥾 kinda guy . I only wear flip flops 🩴 , sandals , or being barefooted 👣 & Shamma sandals are as close as you can get to being barefooted 👣 with footwear on . I wear my sandals , flip-flops 🩴 all year around even in the winter time in 20°/30°Degrees Temperatures outside . I just put on some toes socks 🧦& go on by my business . But I usually don't wear socks 🧦 so . I no sandals & socks 🧦really ? Well it seems to be the style now with everybody wear slide with socks 🧦 or flip flop 🩴 with socks 🧦 so & now got flip flops 🩴 socks🧦 now . I wear my sandals for everything i do outside like yard work , riding my bike 🚲 , walking 🚶‍♂️ around , kayaking 🛶 but i don't wear my leather sandals for kayaking 🛶 I use my Cruzers for kayaking 🛶 , I wear them to work in for 11 hours while at work , wear them for driving long distance driving for 11 hours because I am a long distance Truck 🚛 driver & it's so so comfortable to wear . I like using my Leather sandals for dressing up which I dress up a lot so I wear them a lot . I am already seeing my toes prints on the footbed already which is a good thing because my feet 🦶 & sandals are getting use to each other now . I really like how wide the footbed is because i got wide feet 🦶 for a chubby fat dude . I like how easy it is to put on & take off your feet 🦶 & not have to keep adjusting the sandals every time you put them on . You just adjust it 1 time or until you get the right fit & when you get it that's it you're done & just slip on & off & that's it . It's a lil bit hard if you got chubby fat wide toes like I do that are Evenly straight across like I do instead of being rounded off at a 45° Degrees angle shape like footwear are made but I am making it work so . If you're thinking about getting a pair of Shamma sandals don't think about it go order you a pair right now if you love ❤️ wearing sandals & being so close to being barefooted 👣 & having that barefooted 👣 feeling like I do you will love ❤️ them or if you're a flip-flops 🩴/sandals guy like me . I don't like wearing shoes 👟 , socks 🧦, boots 🥾 at all . I get a lot of questions & get stop a lot about were did I get my flip-flops 🩴 at with the back strap on them at ?
