I bought these to replace the original Maximus UltraGrip soles I had that had started to wear down, and I thought I'd try the leather version. I will say they look and feel great. The leather noticeably softer and smoother. For just padding around the house or other low-intensity use, they are super comfortable. The reason I'm giving them 3 stars is that on a simple 2 mile paved walk, I got hot spots on both feet. That almost never happened with the UltraGrip soles and is one of the things I love about my Shamma sandals. I'm a bit worried I made a mistake going with the leather, but we'll see. It could be that I need to dial in the lacing adjustments better or that the sole needs to break in (neither of which was necessary with the UltraGrip). For just gentle use, however, they are super comfortable and, like I said, they look great.
NOTE TO SHAMMA: There is a bit of a learning curve to install the straps on the soles, though it's not hard once you figure it out. If there isn't already a how-to video on this (I didn't see one), it would be a helpful addition.
