Numa Maximus
Not too thick, not too thin, Numa Maximus is just right for someone who wants a little more protection without sacrificing ground feel. You will love the rugged sole with aggressive tread that stays true to its minimalist roots. Combined with Numa lacing for seamless connection to your sandals, they are equally at home on the trail or at the gym.
Sole
The Maximus sole uses an 8mm Vibram® Newflex sole coupled with your choice of UltraGrip or Tobacco Brown Goatskin Leather footbed for a 9mm total stack height. Vibram® Newflex is made from a blend of rubber and EVA to form a durable soling material with aggressive tread. At 3mm thicker than the Warrior sole, you will get a much more rugged sandal that is capable of diffusing the feeling of rocks, sticks, and the like from underfoot. The Maximus sole is suitable for a host of situations from the trail to the gym. Pair with the UltraGrip footbed for use in the harshest elements, or select the Goatskin Leather for more comfort in drier conditions.
Numa Lacing System
Numa uses a handsfree slip-on lacing system that stretches with your feet as they move. The result is our most comfortable, seamless, and easy-to-use lacing system yet. The secret is our custom ¾” elastic forefoot section. This innovation gives the lacing system the ability to stretch where you need it most: over the arch and middle of the foot, creating a seamless connection between your foot and the sandal. Added benefits of this system include a self-adjusting toe plug buckle and forefoot strap that is custom-cut. This allows all our Numa Sandals to rival flip-flops in terms of comfort without sacrificing convenience. This system uses our innovative and flexible heel posts to keep the heel strap in an optimal position, and these laces are made using Ultrasuede for the highest level of comfort available. Recraftable

I have multiple pairs of Shammas - Maximus LE, Alpha Trailstars, and now the Maximum Numas. I was drawn to the Numas for the slip on ability being pregnant and newly postpartum this summer. However, the Numas buckle came broken. Customer service did offer to send me a new heel piece that I’d have to fix myself with pliers or send them back and they’d send me a new pair. However, they were slow to respond and the whole process to get a new pair was long and frustrating.

For reference, this is my first barefoot sandal. While it felt quite nice initially, there are two big downsides (for me): a) my feet slip off to the inside while walking or running. As a result, my feet scrape over the inner edge, leaving me with callus near my big toe. b) when I wore it daily during my last vacation, I developed some sort of rash/irritation where the strap meets the sole on the outer side (mostly on one foot). I assume the foot moves slightly and there is a cut in the felt of the sole attachment (production-wise?) which causes irritation. So, unfortunately, I cannot wear it a lot :(
