The Super Ibex are our toughest, most capable hiking sandals. These sandals are all about traction and durability, both a necessity for the toughest trails. If you want to explore the backcountry, scale a mountain peak, or reach that undisturbed fishing hole then the Super Ibex are your sandals!

Super Lacing System

The Super Lacing system is an all-leather version of our venerable 4th Generation Shamma Lacing System. This system is packed with features that give you everything you need to get the right fit. Our original Shamma buckle allows for fine-tuning of the toe strap and insole strap. The leather insole keeps the heel strap in an optimal position. Velcro® on the insole and heel straps allow for quick and secure adjustments. The Super Lacing System gives you comfort, durability and style that only leather can provide.

Recraftable

Just because you wore a hole in your sandals, it doesn’t mean you have to throw them away! Our modular approach to sandal-making means that worn out parts can be replaced with a pair of pliers at home. Why throw away what you can repair? Visit our parts page to learn more!

All of our sandals are made right here in Santa Cruz, CA by our small team, using primarily US sourced materials along with high quality components from Italy, Germany, and other international partners. Step-by-Step Instructions:

Loosen All Zones: Ensure the toe, insole, and heel straps are completely loose.
Center Your Foot: Place your foot with equal room front and back.
Set Buckle Position: Adjust the buckle front-to-back to find the sweet spot.
Tighten Insole Strap: Tighten this first to set the buckle's left/right position. Keep it parallel to the big toe bone.
Clear the Slack: Pull any extra slack from the toe strap zone through the outside ankle slot towards the heel.
Finalize: Tighten the heel strap to your desired comfort level.

FAQ

Can these get wet?

While a bit of water or rain every once in a while won't hurt your sandals, it is best to generally keep them dry to preserve the softness and look of the leather. Leather also gets slippery when wet.

Which soles should I pick?

Opt for the Alpha if you are transitioning to barefoot footwear slowly or want some extra protection. If you are an experienced wearer and want almost nothing between you and the ground, go with the Warrior. And wear the Ibex if you need a flexible sole that can handle especially rugged terrain or need the maximum amount of protection.

Can these be resoled?

Yes, they can! These require an in-workshop resole, so if and when you need it, you can mail them to us and we can install your new soles.

How should I care for my Supers?

Your Supers are hardy, but for best results, generally keep them dry, and wipe mud off of the leather with a damp cloth when needed. For the highest standard of care, use a leather cleaner and a conditioner periodically.

Will the toe strap dig in between my toes?

Probably not! The special thing about Shammas is that the strap between your toes isn't doing all of the work to keep your feet in place. If you are sensitive in this area, we recommend giving the toe strap a couple days to soften up and in most cases, it will be so comfortable, you'll forget it exists!

Can I return these if they don't work for me?

Yes! We have a 30-Day trial period so that you can test out your sandals inside or outside and still return them in new or gently worn condition. As our sandals break-in, they soften up and begin to hug your feet for a custom fit, so feel free to take your time and ask us any questions along the way.

What is your warranty policy?

We will always repair or replace any sandal that is broken or defective due to a manufacturing defect. For normal wear and tear, you can purchase replacement parts on our Shamma Recrafted page so that the adventure never ends.

Can you tell me about your manufacturing process?

We are proud to be manufacturing each of our sandals in the USA, here at our workshop in Santa Cruz, California! We source our soling material from the United States and Italy, our leather from the USA and Germany, and our ultrasuede from Japan. We are constantly looking for opportunities to bring manufacturing closer to home and work with partners we trust.
